P.E

Last time we did P.E I did basketball. The choices were basketball, netball and rugby. The next time I did P.E I did netball. Scroll down to see the basketball and netball reflection.

Basketball Reflection

Write down five things to think about when you bounce a basketball.
  1. Feet shoulder width apart
  2. Fingers wide apart
  3. Keep the ball underneath your hip or waist
  4. Don’t hit the ball push it but not to hard
  5. Keep your elbows close to your body.

What are the main four parts of basketball?
  1. Passing
  2. Shooting
  3. Dribbling
  4. Defending

How can you protect the ball from a defender?
By bouncing but turning the opposite way.

What was challenging for you?
Protecting the ball from the defender because the day we learnt that I had to go home early so I did not learn how to do it.

What was your favourite part?
Bouncing the ball five times then passing it with a buddy.

What would you have liked to have learned more of?
Defending and trying to get  the ball of others.

What is something you learned?
Bouncing the ball.

Netball Reflection

Write down three things to remember when doing a chest pass
  1. Feet shoulder width apart
  2. Step in to pass
  3. Aim for the player's chest

What are the three things to remember when doing a bounce pass
  1. Bounce the ball close to their feet.
  2. Start from your chest.
  3. Step and bounce.

What are some tips for trying to shoot? (get the ball into the hoop?)
Take your time, Hold the ball in one hand and the other hand to balance the ball. Bend you knees and push up.

What was challenging for you?
Doing ins and outs because it got confusing.

What was your favourite part?
Doing chest passes because it helped and now I’m better at chest passes.

What would you have liked to have learned more of?
Bounce passes! Because I don’t really know how to do it that well.

Canberra Maths

For maths this week Canberra did measuring. It was all about using our times tables. It was pretty challenging but in the end I got there. Annie's Town to Waimutu was very hard!

WALT understand and use scale to work out distances on a map

Places
Scale
Scale Measure
Distance
Annie’s town to Poto
1cm : 2km
4cm
4 x 2 = 8km
Annie’s town to Poto
1cm : 4km
4cm
4 x 4 = 16km
Annie’s town to Poto
1cm : 8km
4cm
4 x 8 = 32km
Dunchurch to Eastville
1cm : 2km
6cm
6 x 2 = 12km
Dunchurch to Eastville
1cm : 4km
6cm
6 x  4 = 24km
Dunchurch to Eastville
1cm : 10km
6cm
6 x 10 = 60km
Annie’s town to Waimutu
1cm : 2km
7.5cm
7 x 2 + ½ = 15
Annie’s town to Waimutu
1cm : 4km
7.5cm
7 x 4 + ½ = 30
Choose and solve five of your own below. Use the map to find the places and scale measure.
Annie’s Town to Totorere
1cm : 3km
10cm
3 x 10 = 30km
Annie’s Town to Totorere
1cm : 4km
10cm
4 x 10 = 40km
Annie’s Town to Manuhoe
1cm : 2km
3cm
2 x 3 = 6km
Annie’s Town to Manuhoe
1cm : 8km
3cm
8 x 3 = 24km
Annie’s Town to Manuhoe
1cm : 7km
3cm
7 x 3 = 21km

My News Paper Article

In 2nd week Mr Cooper and Mr Lowe had a game of Connect 4.

Cooper takes the place of Connect Four world Champion

      Derek Lowe                                                Reuben Cooper

On Tuesday the 28th of April, at 12.02pm The crowd went wild as Mr Lowe and Mr Cooper walked up to the game, Connect 4. Before they started we interviewed them. Mr Cooper said “I’m feeling rather confident because Mr Lowe has never played before”. Mr Lowe mentioned ”I am very nervous and worried”. There were 2 colors Red and yellow. Derek picked Red for boys and said to Mr Cooper “you can have yellow for girls”. Since Mr Lowe hadn't played before he had the first go.

Just before they started they had really good sportsmanship and shook each others hands. They were off.  Mr Lowe was just about to get a horizontal line but at the last minute Mr Cooper blocked  the four. And then again just about to get ANOTHER horizontal line but it got blocked. Mr Cooper had a three and Mr Lowe did not block it so slowly Mr Cooper put the counter in the slot.

Mr Cooper won and then Mr Lowe did not notice that he won. Mr Lowe put his counter in the slot then Mr Lowe got four in a row. Mr Lowe thought he won. Mr Lowe was too focused on the three reds, he did not see the 4 yellows.

My Presentation Slide

This is my slide. It is about Camp Kaitawa last week. Please have a look to see what we were up to. Also it is about my favourite things I did there. Last of all thanks to all the parents who signed up to come. It was a pleasure to have you and it was amazing how you took time off work to come.
